about

With Spring fully arrived, it is easy to focus only on the sunny green days that now surround my home, and consider the cold grey ones as anomalous exceptions to the proper season. In truth, Spring is just as much Winter as it is Summer, and so it follows that I still have a need for cozy warm sound to curl up beside as I would have in the snowy months. 'Saturnalian Embers' is one such piece, initially recorded on December 23rd, 2022, fully snowed in, with the sole source of my Stravinskian windchimes on my back porch being routed through the modular system.

Although I have sampled these same chimes many times over, they always seem to yield a different chordal profile, with different dominant tones determined by whatever the wind decided to play that day. This piece could almost be a Coppice Halifax recording, as it contains an almost dub near-minor chord that comes and goes as filter sweeps swell and recede, and stands as yet another example of music that seems to exist in many of my creative landscapes simultaneously. The process and workflow involved, however, are what makes it a Vibratelepathos piece, emphasizing not just the voice of the work, but the way that voice articulates itself across the runtime.
