"On Being the Bearer and the Beholder" is a secondary study of only one aspect of the 83rd Vibra session - "A Topography of Will" - following the Leap Day release "The Triadic Forest." While the latter focused on incommensurable looping of different sections of the Karplus Garden third of Vibra 83, this release zeroes in on the Subtractive Garden - routing it through granular resampling systems and pitch processors that have been used prolifically in this series to create new branches in the path out of previous recordings.

It considers one of many paradoxes in the creative act - the position of being both the expression of an idea and the recipient of that expression - which, through the proxy of a deliberately convoluted and imperceptibly detailed procedural working method, allows both perspectives to exist in the same moment. In thinking about this state, consciously, I am fascinated with the possibility of facilitating newer and more immediately relevant, or perhaps more honest (for lack of a better term), creative work, which can only exist when the bearer and the beholder are a singular entity in the same window of time.
