about

Sometimes, accidents happen in the studio, especially during feverish moments of overwhelming inspiration, which can compromise or otherwise ruin a recording, and in some such cases, the discovery that this has taken place does not happen until after a lengthy session. The remnants of the botched recording session are usually shelved indefinitely, and labeled as such, in the hopes that someday, something useful may yet be done with them. The Vibratelepathos series (and general working methodology) was developed with the use of any recording source bearing any level of quality in mind, so it has become possible to retrieve damaged and forsaken recordings and reprocess them into something new and viable. Previous recordings published after going through such a transfiguration include Ornithic Limewash and Amethyst Extracts, though each of these recordings utilized a completely unique approach in order to shape them into something listenable and cogent.

In the case of Mesolith, two extended sessions were recorded with incorrect microphone sources, resulting in a badly rendered room recording of the sessions rather than a direct-line input recording from the mixing desk. Through careful use of parametric equalization and various low/high/bandpass filters, it was possible to extract all relevant tonal information from these otherwise unlistenable recordings, isolate it and reprocess it into the unexpectedly beautiful renderings you hear now.

These types of transfigurative approaches are perfectly illustrative of the truly malleable properties of sound, considered as matter, and fully able to be renewed and revised at the molecular level by the R-EW Audioholistics modular system and processing path. Not only do their manifestations represent the successful meeting of incidental challenges that often crop up in studio work of any kind, but they also bring to mind the thought that in sound, it is possible to declare that no laws are ever fixed, that Mesolith and other sessions like it exist peripherally alongside any given recording that manifests in the studio, merely waiting for the right time and place to become observable. The thinking that any sound may be and may also become any other sound, at any point in the duration of that sound's runtime, and given the right tools and working order, that such pursuits are not only possible, but relatively simple and wholly obtainable.
