Damned and forsaken upon the steps of the altar. Clouds twisting into knots overhead. A great wind ripples through stained vestments, signaling the departure of an elemental presence, a failed ritual, abandonment. The sky turns a deep burnt red, slowly, soundlessly, as another wind begins to blow in from no direction at all. One by one, the candles burning on the three incense-dusted pillars are extinguished, and the ancient stones begin to crumble.
